The Entrepreneur’s Hour
Osage takes a unique view on our interactions with an entrepreneur, especially in our first meeting. We view this as your hour not ours. Tell us about yourself and then let’s have a conversation about your business. Is a demo of the product worthwhile? Your choice. But please, do not give us a presentation because we will have already read it. Our goal is to engage you in a discussion about your business. We value a direct and honest dialogue about both the opportunity and the risks or challenges facing your venture.
Osage takes pride in preparing for our meetings. We read the materials, take notes, and come to the meeting ready to dig in. Presenting your slides, which we have already reviewed, is not the best use of your time with us. Please do not be surprised if someone else sits in – one of our investors, someone from industry, or someone from a different fund. We like broad perspectives but don’t worry – they will be prepared too.
One other thing that may be unusual: we try to give feedback on the spot. It won’t be our final decision, but most often entrepreneurs leave the meeting with a sense of how things went. We respect your effort, your ambitions, and your will to make things happen. We recognize that these meetings are critical to you. Thus we think it is only fair if you leave with an impression – good or bad – of how things went.
