Philadelphia-based venture capital firm is looking for a University Relations Manager to support its activities with its partner universities who are the sources of the companies in which the firm invests. The experience profile for the position includes an undergraduate degree and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
Osage University Partners (“OUP”) is a unique venture fund that has partnered with leading universities and research institutions to invest in their most compelling spin-outs. Over 900 start-up companies are launched each year in the U.S. based upon university technologies, resulting in the creation of many notable companies. Osage has established relationships with over 70 top tier institutions, including our founding university partners Caltech, Columbia, Duke, University of Florida, Harvard, University of Michigan, Penn, UC Berkeley, and Yale, to exercise unique investment rights that those institutions hold in their start-ups.
OUP I held its final close in January of 2011, raising its target of $100 million. OUP II held its final close in March of 2015, raising an oversubscribed $215 million fund. The three Managing Partners collectively have over 50 years of venture capital experience. University relations team members likewise have over 50 years of technology transfer experience. OUP has invested in over 40 companies, with two exits via M&A and seven via IPO.

Osage University Partners seeks a qualified candidate as our University Relations Manager. This person will be part of a two-person team devoted to maintaining and enhancing our relationships with our current and potential institutional partners, including marketing and communications activities, managing and optimizing existing value-add programs, and creating and implementing new programs, leveraging our broad network across the university technology transfer ecosystem.
Day-to-day responsibilities consist of maintaining and tracking university contacts, coordinating and participating in reviews with institutions regarding their startups, preparing and conducting communications, and assisting with the development and management of value-add programs. These value-add programs currently include an annual summit meeting for TTO directors, a proprietary database of licensing terms, a series of educational seminars, and engagement with our institutional partners’ researchers and startup communities. New programs being considered include webinars, entrepreneurial mentorship programs, additional startup education events, and communication pieces, among others.
The position reports to the Senior Vice President for University Relations, but will work closely with Osage University Partners’ nine-person investment team. Travel for the position will likely be minimal, but would include at least one domestic trip in February/March each year.
